I rarely get pano requests. Usually I can whip out an acceptable pano on my iPhone 6 plus. No tripod, just a steady hand and a bit of planning.
When I know that it will go to a series of canvas prints, I use a full frame camera and tripod. My Leica Q gives me outstanding images with its 28mm f1.7 Summilux. My 6D gives me more options with my trusty old EF 17~35 2.8L (1990s film days!) or even older EF 28 2.8 (Late 80s?).
I actually prefer with 28mm solution since you never get "zoom creep" to ruin the merge process due to perspective change.
The first way is easy, cheap, acceptable for most people and requests, and you can share it with them quickly.
The later methods take post processing in Lightroom but deliver the image(s) that make you proud... and maybe some money!
