The Canon EOS R6 V & RF 20-50 f/4L IS PZ are in Stock and Ready to Ship

I just tested mine (not scientifically!).
And I am extremely satisfied with this little lens, I can only recommend it! :giggle:
Good to hear. Neuro also ordered one. I'll be interested to hear how he likes it when traveling with his R8. I don't think he'll use it much for movies, even with a BR-E1/E2 remote. I'm very interested in seeing where Canon takes this architecture.

This 20-50 + 70-200 f/4 each on its own camera is the perfect equipment for a short city trip.
OK, with an additional TS 17 or 24.
Edit: Lightroom Classic automatically recognises the lens, which wasn't the case with the 24-105 f/2,8!

GRRRRR!!!!!
I just saw that Big Bad Ugly Canon sent mine with the old version rear lens cap!
That's what I expected when I ordered the new rear lens caps. I ordered one extra for my pre-ordered 20-50.
I am still waiting for the lens. Today they informed me that they can't say when it will arrive. Maybe I cancel it and order it from Germany. It says 4-10 business days.

I got mine from the Dutch company KameraExpress in Germany. Till now, they have been very reliable. Unlike all French retailers, they accepted an order before the lens became officially available. So, I got it a soon as they had it from Canon.
2 years International Canon warranty, + additional 3 years from KameraExpress (no idea how good this non-Canon warranty is).

I have a pre-order with Kamera-Express (Netherlands)
But unfortunately, I'm not at the front of the queue. :-(

The 20-50 must be indeed very good, getting so much "highly qualified" internet user criticism...
"Horrible distorsion, ridiculous mount (?), excessive price (20-70 under $1000 would be acceptable), why no f/2,8, no 85mm, never such a crappy lens with software correction"(forgetting Sony does that too) and so on.
Buy it, use it, you'll love it, like most (all?) serious reviewers.
Edit: I forgot all the sooo wonderful Tamrons, Sigmas, Sonies showing Canon the way...

I think the focal length of the 20-50 and its constant aperture are going to be great. I owned the R50v for about 13 months and while I enjoyed it, I was a little disappointed that Canon didn't make any other PZ lenses. Had they, I might have kept it.

I'm not opposed to the R6v camera. I took a good long look at it, but ultimately decided against it since I enjoy an EVF. For gimbal work, this combo will be hard to beat.

What other focal lengths would be appropriate for this architecture? Does anybody care to make a guess?
I think that anything in the 14 to 70mm range with a constant aperture would be popular. The 20-50 is going to be a hit at f4.

I had the R50v with the RF-S 14-30 and while the focal length worked well, The f6.3 aperture at 30 mm wasn't helpful in dimly lit or low light situations. The camera was remarkably light and from a portability standpoint, a great vacation camera. It struggled in the evening and indoors, even if you bumped ISO. I knew this going in and was curious, so it served its intended purpose.

At some point I could opt for the R6v because of the lenses I own. It's a harder sell for me because I have the R5 C. If I did more gimbal work though, I'd get it. The power zoom feature is nice but not mandatory. I think a lot of people purchasing the 20-50 are not going to buy it for the PZ feature. Many will already have a body without a zoom rocker in mind.

It's also possible that Canon won't release another PZ lens for the R6v.
