Yes, global regulations for pharmaceuticals vary widely. As do global reimbursement policies, but I'll say no more about that.

Update: some empirical evidence to support this rumor...
Today my bank notified me that my card has been charged for the cost of the RF 35mm f/1.4L by Adorama.
I did pre-order 1 hour after the announcement.

Did not consider that approach and now I see also see a charge from BH. I ordered on June 6 at 3pm.

Any tips on where to buy in stock in the UK? I don't want to pre-order and be charged now (debit card) and not get one in my hands for 6-12 months.

As my fund has been diverted for RF24-105Z, I will hold out for this purchase and wait for the RF 35mm f/1.2L IS VCM BR Optics magic and well optical corrected glasses with the front filter size of 82mm!!!

I guess that there are 3 possible scenarios then, not necessarily mutually exclusive:

1. Canon has sorted their supply chain issues
2. Canon has decided to allocate much more prouction capacity to this lens than other previous offerings
3. There has been less demand for this lens than Canon expected

Happy to consider other scenarios

I think 2 seems likely considering the price point.
