Does anyone consider the 7D to 70D an actual upgrade. The 70D is newer, has better ISO performance, it has a flip out LCD as well as the whole live view AF thing. It has the exact same AF system and a very similar frame rate. Has anyone made the "jump" to the newer body?

I'm a 7D shooter here and I'm considering making the switch, basically, is the 70D 200$ better than the 7D?

To make video, 70D is a significant upgrade. For photography, not so much. The amount of noise is somewhat lower, although the quality of the grain is more "like film". The chroma noise (colored sprinkles) is much smaller. For shooting Macro, the articulated LCD combined with the dual pixel AF is a great option.

I sold my 7D and got a 70D plus $200 cash during Christmas when the price was $949. Here's what I got: noticeably faster AF for sports so fewer OOF shots, better high ISO performance, articulated screen eliminates the need for my angle finder so I can shoot lower to the ground or above my head and still compose, articulated screen can fold to protect itself, silent shutter, and I can use the same batteries as the 7D and 5D2/3. Here's what I gave up: 0.5fps, snob appeal of a semi-pro body, weight, and weather sealing. All in all, my keeper rate has substantially increased.
