I'm coming from the T3i. I do video for business and photo for mostly pleasure.

Switching over from Nikon. I shoot mostly weddings. Currently using a D3S and D700. I ordered a pair of 5D3's and got my first one in today. The focus system works at least as well as my Nikons even in low light. So far I have only used the 50mm 1.4 lens but will be shopping for more glass tomorrow.

Upgrading from a 40D.

My interest has been evolving towards low-light photography (where the 40D is totally inadequate) with a bit of landscape and indoor sports as well.

I did not feel the 5D2 or 7D were the right choices for an upgrade (for very different reasons), but with the 5D3 I am getting the best of both worlds...

5D2. My plan last year was to wait for the III to come out-rumored to be in Q3 2011. When the tsunami hit everything changed and I got the 5D2. Glad I did, I was really able to grow in photography with it. Now I'll sell it once I get my itchy hands on the 5D3.

Sounds like a good strategy. I am definitely one of those who have been waiting for the eventual release of the MK3.

The MK2 came out when I was still in college and had zero money to buy it. I ended up getting a T3i when they came out knowing it would tide me over until know. haha. ;D
