1. Larger & Heavier FF gear that give higher quality photos
OR
2. Smaller & lighter crop(1" etc...) gear that you enjoy carry and capture those special moments.

I'm 65% on #2 at this time in my life.

more & more (80+%) I find I only carry my Oly EM1 with a 12-60mm with the D800s and big glass only coming out when I have have huge print intent. Even then I sometimes find the EM1 kinda heavy and choose to take a tiny EM10 with 14-42 kit zoom for ultralight gear with good flexible abilities. Everything else in between when the mood suggests it.

As the tech improves each year, EVF helps me getting proper exposure in little time.

Exactly! And I really like the way Oly implemented the live histogram in the viewfinder so you can see what's clipping. Best live histo of anything I've used.
Even better now in the v2 flagship is, if you want it, live hilite and shadow areas, both with definable levels. Comes in quite handy at hi ISO where the DR is limited; helps balance those lights-at-night shots.
The EM1v2 is so good, IMO, I'm considering selling the original v1. And I hate to get rid of gear! :)

Hi Dylan,
I am new to this site and find your question interesting. Many enthusiasts I know do buy a small compact or cropped body because it suits them. I find that some don't take enough interest in the pixel peeping or technicals of a photo to justify the heavier weight of a more capable camera. Personally, I will always choose the right camera for the place I am going. Compact for non serious fun outings with friends, cropped for increased reach and full frame for extra wide angle or low light performance etc. That's assuming that the gear i have does not contain a small compact camera that has super low light performance, long reach and the performance of a heavy full frame. It's also interesting how many people choose different cameras on looks, operating menu or feel, because I myself love the look and feel of canon and buy canon for that reason. Obviously, I love its performance too or it would another story. I forgot to mention the FPS rate too and focusing technology. Fast action photography will dictate which cameras are best for the job despite weight and the 1dx mark 2 might beat most cameras for this purpose until the release of the new smaller Sony Alpha which I think has 20FPS and may cause a stir for Canon and Nikon lol. I am only an enthusiast so keep this in mind.
