So today while trick or treating with my son i dropped my camera with a camera with my 17-40 attached to it. it fell from about 3 feet and landed directly on the lens. The lens cover popped off and there was a UV filter attached to the lens. The Lens filter glass was cracked in a few places and the metal filter was crushed really hard on one side. There were pieces of glass underneath the filter glass. I removed the cracked glass and was able to get the filter off. Upon further inspection of the lens i realized i was screwed. A small ring from inside the lens was popped out. I am assuming this is something to do with whether sealing. Pieces of glass are inside the barrel. can i send this in to canon to get repaired or am i better off getting another one. right now a new lens goes for 739.00. if it can be cleaned out and repaired, what would it cost?

your help is really appreciated.
