Hi all,
I've not seen a monitor discussion on here in awhile.
I think my monitor is getting old, fading a bit....just like my eyesight.

I'm still working on an ancient Dell U2711....which was pretty decent for its day.

But I need something brighter and likely a bit larger.

What's a good one out there these days? Sure, I'd love to have that Apple one, but that's a bit more $$ than I'd like to spend. I"d rather put that money towards film, lenses....etc.

So, please chime in on your suggestions on what you'd like to get next or what you have that might be fairly recent.

Thank you in advance,

cayenne

PS. Id be doing some video editing too along with my stills work. I really don't game on it.

It's a few years old now, but I'm quite pleased with the Viewsonic VP2785-4K. Had it on a Windows 10 PC until recently, now I'm using it with a Mac mini. Easy to profile if you want, but the built-in settings are quite accurate of close is good enough for you (specifically referring to it's Adobe RGB mode here).

Recently upgraded to a 27" BenQ 270C QHD HDR Photography Monitor on a Mac Mini. Color improvements were quite noticeable - 99% Adobe RGB. Even the photos I use for my display background look better.

The 32" SW321C 4K model was a bit pricey, but I did consider it. Maybe when I have more time to devote to photography. For now I'm like you, I'll spend it on an R3 or lenses.

Looking on Prime Day...what are thoughts on these BENQ monitors?

I'm not big on curved ones, but just thought I's list it because on sale:

BenQ EW2780U 27 inch 4K Monitor
or
BenQ EX3203R 32 inch 144Hz Curved Gaming Monitor | WQHD (2560 x 1440)

Goodness....its been so long since I looked for quality monitors...I don't remember WHAT exactly makes a monitor great for stills/video editing?

Anyway, thanks for any insights or suggestions....

I"m still looking other brands, I think there are some Viewsonic offerings on Prime too.

I've been using HP z series monitors and I like them. The best one's they have are dreamcolor displays, but your video card will need to support 30 bit color.
