whats up with my focus?

this is my 7D with a tameron 10-24.
why is the focus so far off?
does my camera hate this lens?

I'm not positive what Noise Reduction you are using if any... but if you have NR on, it CAN soften the image as it tries to squash the noise... So a lower ISO with no NR needed will look sharper than a high ISO with NR applied. Personally it looks acceptable, micro adjust can fix it a tad, but it looks like a NR thing to me...

Perfect example of how content and story is far more important than IQ, NR and all the rest put together, I’m drooling for all those lil’ 135 boxes. Bet that shop smells real great and yes I have a totally romantic unrealistic view of the past. ;)

Can you try taking the picture with both live view and without live view? I had a misfocussing 7D. Since the live view mechanism focuses differently from the phase detection mechanism, you can see if they result in the same image or a different sharpness. If the sharpness is better with live view, then you can send it back to canon for recalibration. My 7D worked perfectly once they did that and I dearly love how accurate it is now.
