Where are the Canon fun Pentaxian colors?

What is with all the boring black cameras from Canon? ;)

Why are they not innovative like Pentax? First Pentax blows them out of the water 12 (count them 12) color options for the K-S1 digital SLR. (And don't even get me started on the cool grip LED's).

As if that is not enough, now they have three new special combos to match your favorite drinks and dessert: blue cream soda, lime pie, strawberry cake.

Click on the link and see for yourself - I mean that camera matches that drink perfectly! I do not like coffee (and definitely not black coffee), so what am I going to drink with my boring 5D3?

And read the Pentax press statement: these special editions will "make digital SLR photography even more fun." Well how am I supposed to have fun now with my black Canon? They are sucking the joy of photography right out of me! :o

The Rebel T3 came in black, but also red, silver, and brown.

Brown. If that doesn't scream, "I'M A FUN CAMERA!!," I don't know what does... :o

The best part is the promotional ad debocle.

Yes, but everyone is missing the point of this innovative camera. For the first time ever, the ad shows that you can actually have your finger in front of the lens and the camera will automatically correct for it!

I wouldn't buy an SL1, but if I did I'd consider one of the white ones; other than that the only colour I'd find attractive on a camera besides black is 18% grey for convenient reference.

That would be a great marketing tool.... because you would need a second camera :)

There is always this option: easy skin covers. The problem is the Canon version only comes in red or camouflage while the Nikon version comes in yellow or camouflage. As much as I am making fun of all these colors, I actually think the yellow looks kind of cool. (Well it looks good with a black lens anyway, probably not so much with a white lens).

Funnily enough, Pentax recently added a fair amount of joy to my photography - in the form of a 40+-year-old 50mm 1.4 lens which I attach to my Sony a7r. Both of which are, of course, jet black, as they should be. :P

I do get tired of almost everything in photography being black. Trying to find a black cable at the bottom of a black bag, in dim light is real photography fun. >:(

Of course the color of the plastic on the outside of a camera really does not have all that much effect on the skill of the photographer. If a camera manufactuer can sell more cameras with different colors, more power to them.

It is not like they are so desperate that a camera manufactuer would sell colored cameras in cute colored bags after all. No one would be that desperate. ;D

That was a marketing strategy that a lot of bag manufacturers and of course the customers didn't unterstand. ::)
That's why some bag manufacturers were/are trying to sell bags with light coloured inner lining ;)

It's all up to the customers decision. ;)

Perhaps use 18% grey or a color balanced neutral tone so not only can we find stuff, but in a pinch we can meter off the inside of the bag?
quite good idea. use one of the removable inner separating walls as gray card. :)

The insides of Lowepro bags and their padded dividers are gray. :)
I know as I own two of them. But I was never thinking about using them as gray cards ??? :-\ ;)
