Why would Zeiss do this?

Why has Zeiss blacked out the Canon 5D MKII logo's on this picture about their new 35 f1.4?
At least this camera does look like a normal 5D2 to me....

They succeeded. I didn't even realize the name was blocked off the hump until this post - instead my eye immediately went to the beautiful metal ring of that lens. What I wouldn't give to have this to play with.

I just found this old post. Honestly I like that "unbranded" black camera look. It's like the cars that have no brand nor model written on it. It looks somehow more like a beast to me. Lovely.... I'd buy it, matte black ;) so please Canon? I'm starting to think about tweaking it myself. btw don't get me wrong, I really love Canon....

Same here, looks great with no labels on it. For now I'll settle for matte black electrical tape.

Edwin, be cautious with this one and the Mark III: quite difficult to achieve focus wide open. Not so the slower Zeiss.

Or how about a silver / metal version as per AE-1 days. I'd even settle for metal looking silver plastic :-) And it would work well with the Ziess 'colour scheme'. And since red cars go faster, it might even take better pictures!

This is the perfect camera... A Canon that won't have the Nikon fanboys trying to gloat about the d800 to you as you use it.

Seriously though, I avoided this guy at a bar all night cause he's always going on about Nikon. Eventually he came up to me and told me how great he thought the 5d3 was, spec wise. I said the same about the d800 and we both agreed that they had their places but neither would make a person switch. For once he wasn't a total whore, and over the 5d3/d800 debate of all things.
