Will be in Hanoi for 3 days @ end of Nov. Lens recommendations?

Hanoi will be a quick 3 day (sadly) run for me.
And, it seems like there wont be much of a chance to get out of the city.. I'll be locked in dark rooms most of the daytime (studios) - with only early AM or evening to get around.

In an effort to stay light and mobile, does anyone have suggestions for optimal lensese to bring.

I usually have 35 1.4, 17-40, 135 & 70-200/4 - but I am thinking of just going with the 35 and 135.

Thoughts?

Firstly, i would highly recommend taking a lens!

Although i have not been to Hanoi, In your situation i would slap on the 35 and go nuts! Get nice and close and dive into the action. Sure take the 135 is you want some length, but i would certainly have the 35 on for >90% of the time (I usually just leave my 24mm on when going to cities... but i like wide and don't mind cropping if needed).

Hanoi is one dusty, breathtakingly noisy place...and one of my favourite cities on the planet. Out on the streets, I'd be kind of reluctant to do lens changes in an effort to keep a clean sensor. Last time I was there I had a 24-105 f/4is as my only lens...bolted onto a de-gripped 5DII.

You might mention whether you're shooting with FF or APS-C if you want relevant lens recommendations.

Hanoi doesnt have many large buildings where you need a UWA to get the perfect shoot. 35 will be just fine. environmental portraits and nights (lights sucks, specially for WB as they use oldschool public lighting) are covered with that one too.

As per use in Asia, I'd advise for going long for the second lens if you're not asian yourself. If you want candids, you need to get the pic before the laowai effect quicks in.

Enjoy, Hanoi is probably in my top 3 cities in SE Asia for street photo (and truly streets ahead of HCMC)
