Hi all
I have read good comments about the Tamron 24-70 and am wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the Tamron 28-300.

I have a 5D_III, Canon 16-35 II, 24-105 and 70-200L 2.8 IS.

I am leaving on a 6 week holiday in Nov from Perth Australia to Venice, then cruising the Med to Turkey & Miami via St Thomas and a few islands then 2 weeks in England.

I am interested in Landscape, old buildings inside & out anything else I see including hopefully the Duxford aircraft museum.

I am worried about the weight of the 24-105 and esp 70-200 so was thinking of just taking the 16-35 for wide angle and buying the Tamron 28-300 as a travelling lens. I have tried the Canon 28-300, great lens but heavy like the 70-200.

I would appreciate your thoughts and advice.

Michael

There's another current thread, somewhat similar requirements to yours. Check it out here - there are a number of people (including myself) who've posted advice.

If you need a more portable telezoom, I can also recommend the 70-300mm L over any of the 70-200mm f/2.8 varieties (as the 70-300mm L is lighter, plus gives you more reach). Obviously you loose the f/2.8 advantage... horses for courses.

If you require the 16-35mm for UWA on your FF, yes - then I can understand you'd like to take that too.

Regards

Paul

My wife moaned about my camera gear when going on a cruise last year, I ended up taking just one lens.... A 40mm 2.8 STM lens.

I ended up having such a good time and the lens was very inconspicuous!!

It certainly made me appreciate a prime lens and really made me think about making pictures rather than taking them.

It als weighed next to nothing...
