There may be a lens launch for the T1/2000D in June.

Following Nikon and Sigma's lead, Canon could be ready to launch a replacement of their 35 f/2 and 50 f/1.4 lenses.

EF 35 f/1.8 USM

EF 50 f/1.4 USM

It was suggested there's a possibility the 35 may be an EF-S mount.

The 35L replacement will be coming with a pro body.

  1. Here’s a silly question but since I am fairly new to this…Don’t be too unkind!!! If you have a ef 50mm f1.2 and ef 50mm f1.4. If you set them both at f2.8 for instance would they both give the same exposure or would the 1.2 being a larger diameter lense allow more light through in the same amount of time? Secondly given the same aperture setting of f2.8 would you expect a noticable difference in the resulting image and has anyone actually tested this out?

  2. I love my 50 1.8 II, but on my cropped sensor, it can’t be an everyday lens. I’m really leaning toward a normal prime for the 1.6x cameras. If it was plastic.. that might even be better, it’ll be lighter =) i’ll hold out as long as i can for the 35/f2 replacement.

  3. What is the obsession with normal lenses? I almost never use a normal range focal length. Always something wide or tele
