  • – SD Card
    – Color Accent Feature

    is this a joke???

i mean, how could they leave other important specs such as Zoom In/Out dial, Battery Lid, and Tripod Hole out?

  • if the GX1 is true its a good competitor to the 4/3 camera. Even tho its “crippled” by a fixed lens.

  • i cant say it often enough
they should start thinking about more lenses instead of building cheaper and crappier cams

  • These are not complete specs, but if it is Digic IV you should have Color Acccent and other Digic IV features. Maybe even your SD card slot :) Lets wait a couple more days.

I’m really looking forward to know more about the D60/7D as I want a camera in that range.

  • looks like the oled displays are coming, lets hope they live up to their hype.

I was wondering if Canon was going to come out with a touch screen cam.

Gx1 could be a great pocket cam.
    must have:
    raw!!
    wide angle wider than 30mm.
    full manual

  • I think the OLED-thing is BS. Of course OLED is readdy to rock but Canon will never bringt product as one of the first.

  • What I am hoping from the GX1

-At the very least a 24mm wide lens

    -Lens starts at f2.0

    -Bulb mode

If it doesn’t have that it looks like I will be getting a LX4/LX3.

  • these “cheaper and crappier cams” pay for your lenses. if Canon eliminated its compact division I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t be seeing all the lens updates we’ve seen in the last 5 years … we’d be riding on 80s technology still

  • The Color Accent feature seems to matter in Canon compacts now. The SD1200 doesn’t have it, the SD780 does. It’s become a desired feature for the young people.

  • So, if I have this correct, Canon are going to introduce a replacement for the G10 with lower resolution (12MP vs 14.7MP) but a larger sensor? I take it that “larger sensor” therefore means physically larger? Therefore the pixel density should be considerably lower than the G10’s 34MP/cm2.

Although I applaud this move, and could even be tempted, it doesn’t strike me as very likely for a company that seems to be fixated on more megapixels as a marketing tool.

  • still DIGIC IV…

    -CMOS sensor
    -1080p video
    -OLED screen

the other seem to similar to G10…

    give me f/2.0~~~

althrough i’m looking forward to 60D to replace my G10

  • People always say things like this, as if a company is like an individual that has limited time. No. If a product or division is successful, they hire more people. Reducing development of compacts would cost jobs at Canon, but will *not* increase development of lenses or EOS bodies.

  • If it’s a real successor to the G series, I’m sure it’ll have RAW and full manual. I agree that the question is the lens (assuming the rumor specs we do have our accurate.)

  • DSLR’s are much more profitable than point and shoots. Canon wants to sell a lot of them, not only for profit, but so that owners will move up to DSLR’s where the profit margin is much better. And, of course, they will buy lenses, where profits are higher yet. This is pretty well known and often commented on by experts who do financial reviews of Canon and Nikon.

  • If they make that sensor as big or close to the 4/3 then I’m interested, otherwise, go back to the drawing board.

    How about an articulating screen?

  • How is the sensor size still such a secret? It’s the most important feature of the G11. It’s what we’re all waiting to hear about.
