Rumors
A few things may be coming soon, I'm waiting for the good sources to pipe up.

Photozona.de
Photozone has completed their review of the EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS II.

The review is very favorable outside of pricing. We all knew it was going to cost a lot more than the previous version, we can all dream though.

Lens Rentals Canada
Canadians may have seen ads for a site called Lens Rentals Canada.

I am partnered in the new Canadian company. We have no affiliation with LensRentals.com in the US, even though Roger is a great guy!

Our goal at Lens Rentals Canada is to create the easiest, most efficient and most enjoyable online rental experience in the country. There will be some bumps along the way, but we're committed to the best customer service in the country.

We stock lots and will be adding more stuff as demand dictates. The first week of launch has been great!

If it seems I've disappeared a bit lately, this is why!

Downtown Camera (Toronto)
I rarely show support for photography stores out there. There are so many great ones. I'd be doing it a lot. So I like to keep it for very special occasions.

Downtown Camera in Toronto, Canada did me a huge favor and I just wanted to say “thanks” here.

  • “A few things may be coming soon, I’m waiting for the good sources to pipe up”

I hope so, that’s why i read CR posts ;-)

I guess a few similar feeds are coming your way and you just waiting for a few more trusted sourced to say similar stuff – That’s what I’m really waiting for :-) from CR – keep up the good work and suspense.

    Personally, I’d guess a 1Ds MK4, and maybe an EVIL 2000D are the next announcements. Selfishly I’d want a 6fps, EVIL, ISO 512,000 APS-c 60D and a F1.4 30mm.

Whatever it is, bring it on, one day i might even buy a new body.

  • Pleased to see a Canadian rental company with what looks like a good inventory at reasonable prices.

  • hey,

i spoke to one chap yesterday who just started using lensrentalscanada, he said the service, knowledge and selection was incredible. they were out of stock on one lens and they brought one in for him.

  • “Rumors
A few things may be coming soon”

A rumor that there may be rumors soon. Gotta love it!

Seriously, though, this site is a great timesaver. (?!?)

I used to spend a lot more time on dpreview and others than I do now, looking primarily for Canon news and rumors. Here I come straight to the good stuff.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Klause at Photozone is known to be pretty tough in his reviews of lenses, so when he gives the 70-200mm f/2.8 L II such a excellent rating, it is going to be a legendary lens.

I had 4 of the original 70-200 f/2.8 non-is and is versions of the lens, and while very good, they just did not standup to comparison with my f4 IS version.

  • 1Ds M4 !!!!!
Please Canon, video Raw HDMI/SDI FULLHD 1080p out ….arf arf arf arf…. [dog onomatopoeia]

  • The lens IS legendary. Wish I had a 1 series to attach it to, but it resolves so much detail with my 5D2–more than any other lens I own. And you are right. Photozone is a tough customer. That lens ranks about as high as any for full frame. Thinking about getting rid of my 100 prime.

I cannot wait for the 24-70 2.8 IS to match this lens. Then a 14-24 2.8 to match that lens. Then a few prime updates. Canon is working on becoming the best SLR kit on the planet the best way it can, by creating bar none exemplary lenses.

For the record, usually I don’t side with those attacking this site for posting “unsubstantiated” rumors, but this really tops everything I have ever seen. The amount of information in those words is really so close to zero, that this doesn’t even qualify as a rumor anymore.

  • Good job setting up Lens Rentals Canada. It’s nice to see more choice in the market. If you ever get an EF-mount Sigma 300-800mm in stock, I’ll be the first to rent it!

  • Excellent

I visit your site almost daily, I guess this anguish will fade away or to a lesser extent when i get myhands on 5D MKII or what ever my finances and future would bring.

Lens rentals, down here in New Zealand there isn’t any, I hope one day we would have.

    Thanks

  • It’s even better on APS-C, where it’s given 5 full stars for optical quality. Awesome lens, it’s better than the f/4 IS version, who would have expected that.

  • I think this is a fake.

There is no golden USM ring at the front and the distance window is too close to the mount, which would make it hard to read in most situations, since the flash/prism housing would be blocking it.

  • In case you or others didnt know Photozone lens rating for APS-C compare differently to fullframe, even if the same lens score higher on a APS-C because it uses less of the outer less sweet area of the lens it does not mean the IQ delevered by APS-C is better. In fact it is likely the FF camera will deliver superior IQ than the crop camera.
