Where is my Rebel T2?
A few people have pointed out that Canon has removed all their film bodies from their site other than the EOS-1v

Shocked? I am!

  • Totally shocked!! I got a EOS3 on february in perfect condition (really, not a scratch on it), with all the rubber seals and grip for 400 american dollars, it is the most amazing SLR I’ve ever used, the eye control focus is like magic, the 7fps amazing, and the focus tracking is perfect!! the body design is beautifull, it is a little heavy with the grip, 16-35 and speedlite, but I got used to it already…
    I’m getting the 5D mk2 anyway, just waiting for CR’s review! ;-)

  • um… you guys are just NOW noticing this? CanonUSA removed all the Film Bodies off the website months ago… they havent been avaliable for purchase from the Manufacturer for some time now!

  • As far as I know, the 1v also isn’t in production any more. Canon’s supposed to be selling only “left-over” stock supplies.

  • People should have seen this coming. All but the 1V have been discontinued and removed from Canon websites in the rest of the world for ages! Some (very few) sites still have the EOS3 (like Canon Australia). And (with all due respect), Douglas is totally wrong. They were taken off the US site within the last day or so.

  • Film Cameras just don’t sell. I’ve two Digital Rebel bodies that I can’t sell for $5.00.

Lots of sellers asking $200-$600 for them locally on craigslist, but of course there are no sales. Some people are looking at those prices and pulling their camera out of the closet and listing it, thinking its worth something. This just feeds the madness. I do buy old EOS 650’s when I can find them with the original Canon EF 50mm 1.8 or 70-210 F4 when the price is reasonable. The body and flash are give aways.

  • Gone the way of the Polaroid. I’m partially bummed – but I imagine they will be reasonably available via second hand long enough for me to get a decent body – not going pro, but I have a Nikon FM10 – hand me down, leave me alone – that isn’t going to cut it.

  • wow, Although I’m not a Film user, I’m pretty shocked. I know lots of people who are still using films.

  • I recently bought a Canon EOS 1V-HS second handed but in superb condition.

It’s a Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III for the price of a Canon EOS 400D/Digital Rebel XTi.

  • Those who say film cameras don’t sell don’t know what their talking about. I sold 2 used Canon EOS-1V 35mm bodies – one for $750, and the second for $800. It took a little while, but no problem.

  • This camera is spectacular! It is so easy to use, takes the absolute best pictures and it’s super fun to use. I’ve read people complaining about the lens cap, it clicks on fine, no problems. The flash works great, if you want more light in low light conditions, buy another flash. The fact that I can record video and then take pictures and zoom in while recording is terrific, I’ve used that a lot. My favorite camera, I LOVE IT!!

  • wow you are so awesome because you noticed first! you are an amazing person, it’d be great if we all visited every site every day and could keep up on stuff as well as your majesty. condesending ahole.
