It looks like we're going to finally see the follow-up to the Cinema EOS C70 this week. It won't be called the C70 Mark II, instead it'll be the Cinema EOS C80.

Canon Cinema EOS C80

  • 6K Full-frame Back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor
  • Triple-base ISO (800, 3200, 12,800)
  • Internal recording: 6K 30P Cinema RAW Light, XF-AVC, XF-HEVC S and XF-AVC S
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
  • 12G SDI and a variety of interfaces including Wi-Fi and Ethernet
  • $5499 USD

You should be able to see the Cinema EOS C80 at IBC in Amsterdam next week and it should be officially announced some time in the next day or so.

The Cinema EOS C80, along with the Cinema EOS C400, EOS R5 Mark II and EOS R1 take care of 4 of the 5 Canon ILC cameras that have hit certification this year. There is one left, and we believe it to be the EOS R6 Mark III, but we don't expect that to be announced 2024, though things can always change.

  1. Weird, wonder how it\'s going to differentiate itself from the C400 (other than body design).
Seems likely its the same sensor. Super glad I sold my c70 last week, timing couldn\'t be better!
