UPDATE
The previous 1Ds post wasn’t supposed to appear, I had it set as a draft. The rumor is old and one of them recycled from here already. Thanks for the heads up Adam, posting from an iPhone can be annoying.

Fix that flimsy nature of the OC-3 cord first. I’ve had TWO snap off during shoots! At $90 a pop, it’s a farce that the things breaks like that.

If they make a 700 EX, I hope they make it with a really strong hotshoe. I stumbled in the snow in November and broke the plastic hotshoe off my 580 EX. $90 to fix. #@%*()!!

Weather sealed and a new battery door — bingo. +1 on a better hot shoe.

Yes. New flash. 580 EX is way too slow. Let’s hope this is better build than the old one. There are alot photographers who takes 100 000 pictures every year. That means at least 3 speedligth 580’s.
Important things for a new high end flash.
1). Better Turbo plug. The one on 580 EX II breakes easily and can’t be fiksed!!!
2). Metal shoe is nice but insted of a broken shoe, you get a broken flashbody og camera-top. That’s easily buy a new one or spend $ 500 on camera fikses. The plastic-shoe on Speedlight 580 cost $7 and was took max a 1 min to swich.

C’mon Mr CANON give us a real beast = 150W/S
interchangeable head with ringflash , barebulb and normal head option and 2 battery port : 1 RCA 6V and 1 turbo port and give us back a motor drive option that set up the power to follow @ 6-8 FPS .
a very fast duration = 1/10000s @ Full power T5.
a beaffy screw mount would be lovely…
