$5000…wow, that’s a bunch of money!
Betcha they sell out in a couple of hours!
They have previously had some in stock and sold them out in minutes.
who’s going to buy me a present? :D
So this means that the new camera body canon will officially reveal soon is not the Mark IV.
sold out at 7:41pm :-)
Yup…
I didn’t do that, I promise!
It’s OK.
So much for my prediction of “a couple of hours”…
Its good to know people ( canon reps.).
Good thing it is such a terrible camera or it would have only been 10 minutes before it sold out.
I find this a joke! It’s been 3 months or so since the launch of the MK 4 and i still cant get my hands on one unless im willing to pay over $6000. I don’t have any connections at Canon and live in Africa and have to rely on ordering from B&H. Did Canon just make a complete stuff up with projected sales??? what’s the deal? Im a professional sports photographer, what’s the point in irritating you supposed ‘core market’?
I don’t understand. Over here in Europe the 1D-mkIV has been available since the last week of December 2009. I bought mine in the first week of january. Shops have plenty stock and have not been sold-out since release. Why is it that USA / Canada / Africa does not have stock?

there is stock here…
Maybe this is because there is more $$$ to earn in Europe? It’s 1000 US$ more here than for the rest of the globe.
I think the USA / Canada market is much larger than the European market. Common sense tells me that Canon could have made far more sales if they stocked you guys first.
Besides, you say that it’s $1000 more expensive over there.
Well, over here you pay 4895,00 Euro. That’s $6718,00
So there goes that argument.
Perhaps he means that Canon are making more money per camera in Europe, so it is more profitable to ship the available units to that market.
In Europe, isn’t most of the extra cost per camera just tax, which Canon wouldn’t see anyways?
Sweeeeet! I just got mine. Of of the first to be sold to non-pro’s here in Denmark apperently (finally I might add :-)
Now, If only the darn battery would charge faster so I can go play with my new toy… hehe
I got mine for 6012 USD here in Denmark, and that includes the horrible tax of 25% we have on all goods (as well as the 12% import tax we also have on stuff from outside the European Union)
The 1d mark iv is in stock at adorama.
Thanks Matthew
Ordered one! Was all great, good mood in the house… money hadn’t off my card but thought it was just a matter of time. Went to bed… checked my mails in the morning, we regret to inform you… back-ordered…
Anybody knows when bodies will arrive in the US?(!). Thanx
