Let me guess: The new Firmware for the 5D will add AF assist beam of the 270EX… =) And maybe fix some banding things… har har.
greetings from Germany…
There is still hope for the 5D manual movie settings…
I was hoping so much… soo much, against my better judgement and all logical thought processes, that the next 50D firmware would allow for some sort of video recording mode (I mean come on… T1 with movie mode!) While i’m not surprised in the least, I am still saddened that there is to be no 50D video recording capability via firmware update :(
5D2 update FIXES vertical banding and black dot issues.
What about a 400D update? Is the 400D not supposed to support the assist AF beam feature? :(
Oh yeah, and how about EOS 1000F and 500N?!
Yep, on 5dmk2 vertical banding problem is already fixed.. I think :)
Your wish will come true, albeit in a different name.
The next firmware update for the 50D will be called “EOS 60D”.
For all intents & purposes, the current “Rebel” is the 500D/T1i. That makes the 400D/XTi a 2-generation old canera. What’s Canon’s track record in firmware updates for such oldies?
What about 40D Canon?????
Are you sure? The newest firmware for the 5D Mk II is dated January ’09, yet I’ve seen posts (and pics) in the ISO 100-200 range with the latest firmware that still clearly exhibit banding.
I really thought we’d see a 5D Mk II firmware update this week. Unless, however, Canon is waiting a couple days to let the current firmware releases drift off the front page and then make some real news on the 5D Mk II front with manual video control.
Would be my definition of “good service”… it shouldn’t be that difficult to copy some source code of the 450D’s firmware to the 400D’s… but… yeah, sure – Canon has to sell new Rebels, I forgot…
I’m a newbie 1000D user and don’t have experience with Canon DSLRs but is it a common practice to skip firmware versions? My 1000D has 1.0.3, the latest is 1.0.5 but I cannont find 1.0.4.
Hi – really great website you have created. I enjoyed reading this posting. I did want to issue a comment to tell you that the design of this site is very aesthetically sweet. I used to be a graphic designer, now I am a copy editor in chief for a merchandising firm. I have always enjoyed playing with information processing systems and am trying to learn computer code in my free time (which there is never enough of lol).
