Oh Joy! I have confirmation that quantities of the EF 200-400 f/4L IS 1.4x have landed in Canon warehouses in Canada and the United States. The lenses will be allocated and shipped to retailers in the next 48 hours if all goes to plan. Not that anyone is looking forward to the lens or anything……. Replacement to the EF-S 18-200 IS? A patent has come about showing two lenses, one for APS-C at 18-200 and the other for full frame with a focal range of 28-200. We’ve been told in the past that the 18-200 would be getting replaced, and we have heard about an EF-S 18-300 in development. Are you covered if you use Magic Lantern? DIY Photography did a great article on third party firmware and whether or not it voids your warranty. They did it for various brands including Canon, Nikon and Panasonic. Of the three, only Canon is “okay” with you using third party firmware and your warranty will not be “voided”. Canon EOS 50D Cinema Camera! Magic Lantern has made it possible to shoot RAW video on the 5 year old Canon EOS 50D. The forgotten 15mp APS-C predecessor to the EOS 60D. The software is very early in development, but at least one person that has shot with the camera and firmware is quite impressed.
