Canon UK launches big Black Friday discounts

   My friendly dealer tells me that it the discounts appear to be on what they are going to discontinue. There are massive discounts on the RF 100-500mm. Even with these discounts, they are still cheaper on the gray market. The major UK dealer told me that the RF 200-800mm will be dispatched at the end of next month and Canon has enough stock for all the pre-orders. Canon may possibly think the 200-800 will kill the sales of the 200-500 and is offloading.

   Edit: 10 - 20% discounts in the big Australian stores - but not as big as the UK! Maybe the well-known UK price-gouge gives them more scope to discount in these situations?

   it was his guess. My gut reaction is that they are simply clearing excess overpriced stock. The RF 100-500 might be squeezed between the RFs 100-400 and 200-800.

4. It's a highly regarded lens, so it would be remarkable if it was actually cut.

5. The US dealer, Midwest Photo, had a very nice deal on the 100-500, as well ($2339).
   Now appears to be a good time to buy.
