It looks like Canon USA is going to try and get into the NFT space. Launching soon, is Cadabra, an online curated marketplace.
We're not overly enthusiastic about NFTs due to the amount of nonsense that surrounds them. That said, we'll keep an open mind about what Canon USA has planned for Cadabra.
Cadabra is a curated photography marketplace from Canon U.S.A., Inc. that offers a selection of digital art (NFTs) from innovative creators. The Cadabra marketplace aims to empower creators by connecting them to enthusiastic collectors who celebrate the art of photography through a shared appreciation for these digital artworks

At the moment I see the ridiculous high fees of minting an NFT as a major problem. When the hype started, I decided to create some NFTs. I created some high resolution TIFFs that might work nice a large scale prints. My idea was to sell 100 of each for $5 per piece or so. Then I found out though that I had to pay about $80 per NFT to mint it. That seems like a great scam to me that will only make the NFT platforms rich. So of course every company wants to create an NFT platform.
It is the same with crypto currencies. The only people who can still get rich through crypto are the owners of the platforms that receive a lot of fees even if the value of crypto goes down.
Seriously though, who bewitched Canon execs to make this passe idea a reality? Come on Canon, I bought your stuff so you can R&D and come out with better gear, not some tried and failed money laundering scheme.
