Two Never Before Seen Lenses Coming from Canon This Year

As someone growing very curious with TS-E lenses but unsure about which focal length to choose between 17 and 24, a zoom would certainly be prohibitive but a simpler decision
If you happen to have an EF 1.4x TC, you can mount that behind the TS-E 17mm f/4 and have a very nice TS-E 24mm f/5.6. Even if you don't have an EF 1.4x TC, buying one along with the TS-E 17 is cheaper than buying both of the TS-E lenses.

I have both the TS-E 17 and 24 II, but when I want to travel lighter I will bring the 1.4x TC instead of the TS-E 24.

There were a lot of EF-s bodies with better AF, the 7D, 7D II, 70D, 750D, 760D, 80D, 77D, 800D, 90D, and most of them had Dual Pixel AF in live-view
I don't think any of those cameras came close to what the modern mirrorless cameras can do and how accurate they are. I used to own a 7D II and now i have an R8. It's night and day in accuracy, the R8 is so much better.

I think the Canon APS-C RF bodies are much better than the EF-S equivalents. No more unreliable and slow AF with 9 focus points, proper video specs (uncropped 4K), etc. But they are still somewhat boring. But Canon is barely doing the essential in the lenses department. Lucky we have Sigma with some really cool lenses.

Interesting, maybe 200 - 500 f4 or 5.6? Oh heck I kinda wish the new 400 and 600 would be released.
If it is in the pricerange between 100-500 5-7.1 and 100-300 2.8 i am quite sure it will not be 500 f4 or 600 f4. That is top shelf, like 300 and 400 f2.8
I could see a 200-500 f5.6 or 300 to 600 f6.3 in that price bracket. I know, even the 600 f6.3 is very close to the 100-300 in diameter, but Canon made the 200-800 and the 800 f11, so 6-7k for a really good lens is doable for Canon. Not sure if they make it, though.

Canon Officially Announces the EOS R6 V

Godox claims to work with the R50.
Since they also have a wireless microphone, I believe it.
However, that does not mean it will work with the R6 V.
Thanks for the info.

The R50 has a mechanical second shutter curtain and supports flash sync at up to 1/250 s. I think the real issue is that the R6 V has no mechanical shutter curtain, so it (currently) doesn’t support flash, at all.

You are getting more human everyday, AI Agent Neuro. ❤️ I should have specified, for my use, 3rd party mono light trigger, which is still probably no at this stage.

I really just wish we would get a proper R6II successor with full frame / ibis & RF mount.
Well, it's your lucky day! Your wish for a proper successor to the R6II is granted!

(In fact, it was granted last year.)

I also wish they kept the 24MP sensor and update other things, like: better EVF, bigger battery, joystick, control wheel, etc. Sensor resolution is a good differentiator.
So you basically want a mini R6. Only ibis missing and you have a R6 with your wishlist. Make a pick…

Mine would be: keep the R8 like it is. Just add a joystick and give 1/8000 or 1/16.000 with electronic first curtain.

Desperately no sign of a possible macro lens... :(
A never seen before macro lens? Hmmm 🤨 a macro zoom lens (100-200mm?) would come to my mind or a macro in the Tele area wit 2:1 magnification.

But I gotta admit: there’s a greater chance of me photographing a unicorn than such lenses becoming reality.

So fed-up with this kind of peremptory “I know everything” comments.

For a videographer, a mechanical shutter is a very positive point and a practical way to avoid dust on the sensor when switching lenses.
Of all the highly decorated smartasses on this forum, I am flattered you selected me to be their ambassador. Truly an honor, thank you.

I agree the lack of a mechanical shutter is a real bummer on the R6v. I do not agree with it being an intentional nerf (or “cripple hammer” as some like to call it) but I see the R6v as being a cheaper toned down C50 cinema camera. Getting close to a C50 for $$1400 cheaper is not such a bad deal - but what makes zero sense is that the R6v doesn’t have a cinema operating system. It’s a photo OS camera with no mechanical shutter - that makes no sense to me either. And where is our detachable viewfinder?

I really just wish we would get a proper EOS M6II successor with full frame / ibis & RF mount.

Please forgive a fellow experimental scientist for using your image to test those theories - after all as Max Planck wrote: "Experiments are the only means of knowledge at our disposal, the rest is poetry, imagination." (especially what's on Facebook).

I have lots to post here but for now will limit my response to this: in the process of trying to 'normalize' all three original images I learned some things I didn't know about gamma correction--it is now part of my 'toolbox' when modifying images.

I'd love to see a silver-class 500mm f/5.6 with full extender support, as well as a replacement for the L-class 24-70 f/4 in the spirit of quality and price. Any enhancement to the 24-70 would be welcomed, such as 2.8 in the 4.0 spirit, or an expanded range like 20-70. Either of those lenses (and both) would be the tickets for me to switch to the dark side of RF from EF sensibility. If the 500 came out I'd very likely grab it and the 200-800 for a combo of light-control and flexible reach as luxury or situation demanded.
