What’s Next From Canon Round-up – The Canon EOS R6 Mark III and more

No mention of a very high resolution R5 style camera though...Or what I really want - a fast prime for astrophotography in the 14mm to 20mm range between f/1.2 to f/1.8 max aperture, with very good stars in the corners. If Canon is just not going to do this then PLEASE let Sigma produce there excellent performing 14mm or 20mm f/1.4 full frame AF lenses for RF mount.

Don't shoot the messenger, I'm currently getting slammed with questions about some of these things. So hopefully this clears up what we can currently talk about. EOS R6 III information is soon, it doesn't appear to be as locked down as the R52.
Do you know if Canon is working on a new/updated RF15-35 f/2.8 L?

The current Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8 L IS USM is from 2019!! A newer, perhaps slightly lighter and more compact version would be AWESOME for video work with the R5 Mark II.

Any news regarding a successor of the aging Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8 L IS USM would be great appreciated!

So no RF 35mm f/1.2L? Nikon has one now and the inferiority complex is kicking in.

I need an emoji with a sadder demeanor than the ones available... :eek::oops::(:cautious:o_O:rolleyes::censored::cry::confused::poop:
That'd be great but I'm personally waiting for something like a 14mm f/1.8 (I once rented a Sony a7RV with the 14mm f/1.8 GM and I loved it!) or a successor of the aging Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8 L IS USM. A 35mm f/1.2 would be great too but I like the versatility of something like the RF15-35L

Have you ever used the Nikon Z8 with the 35mm f/1.2? The Z8 is very capable and I like some of the Nikon lenses. The Nikon 135mm f/1.8 Plena or the 50mm 1.2
Some really great options!
No I haven't but I do admire Nikon's no compromise approach to high end lenses. All their 1.2 are great as well as the Plena. I also prefer their approach to exotics.
But I am already running 2 systems (Canon RF and Hasselblad HC, not counting drones and lightning) so I have neither budget nor room at home for a 3rd system

Well, everyone has their own needs and wants. The 35 1.2 is a want of mine (and I am sure a number of peeps here are not surprised about that :ROFLMAO: )

I am mainly a prime guy and I have a preference for longer fl's... so that's that

I would be very happy with a 24-70 2.0 if it is really a thing. I currently have both the 24-105 f2.8 and the 28-70 f2. I thought I would be able to get rid of the 28-70 when I got the 24-105, but I've found that they really satisfy two different use cases: respectively light-gathering/bokeh over range and range over light-gathering/bokeh. I was surprised how it was usually clear what lens to bring to a particular shooting scenario.

This being said, it would be awesome to improve the wide side of the light-gathering/bokeh case with 24mm f2. I shoot a lot of indoor events and sports, where 24mm is so much better than 28mm for my needs. I still would keep the 24-105 f2.8. This lens is unbeatable for outdoor youth sports (baseball/softball/soccer) where you can get close and need a quick zoom throw.

Really hope new RF-S lenses come alongside those APS-C bodies, specifically that patented 15-60mm f/2.8. We’ve been getting some much needed third party options the past year, but we’re still missing a bright general-purpose zoom that starts at 24mm FF equivalent.
