Canon Cinema EOS C50 To Replace EOS R5 C

The 4 year old FX3 supports dual slot CFexpress cards doesn't it? Dual SD cards doesn't compete at all when recording in high bitrates to a CFexpress card.
You only need CFe cards for video in 2 modes on the R5: 8k30 raw (2600Mbps) and 4k120 (1880Mbps). The other video options can use fast SD cards.
The A1 didn't need CFe A cards for any mode as it uses codecs for 8k (raw not available). Similar for 8K light on the R5.

That said, CFe B cards are now cheaper than fast SD cards and more durable and better at dissipating heat. Fast SD cards are generally a special order ie the backward compatibility if you need a card doesn't apply.

For stills, CFe cards are useful for clearing the buffer faster than SD cards but are still not mandatory.

So it's not based on the EOS R5 Mark II sensor. What if previous rumor was a misunderstanding and it is actually based on the future EOS R7 Mark II sensor?
That would make it an APS-C camera (Maybe Super-35 video). I think the name "Cinema EOS C50" would maybe make more sense that way? Well, just a thought. We will soon know :)

That would make a lot more sense. Seems weird for three 45mp 8k cameras getting a 4th sequel with only 6k instead of 8k. (R5, R5c, R5II) OF believes the C50 is full frame, and triple base iso. Both the C80 and C400 are 26mp full frame triple base ISO. Perhaps the C50 is not the R5c replacement, but the second unknown camera is. C5 or something maybe. Cinema camera model numbers seem to have a mind of their own, not connecting with mirrorless numbers. Seems likely we get two full frame 32mp and 45mp “C” compact cinema cameras, or an aps-c and full frame. I am not quite convinced the C50 would be a direct R5c replacement yet. Rumors are rumors. We shall see soon enough.

Screenshot of this mornings Canon post with shadows lifted.

My math says a 24MP 16x9 sensor expanded vertically to 4x3 is 32MP.. which could mean we are getting the C80/C400 sensor in 4x3 for vertical and anamorphic use

Also that looks like XLR ports to me…

Your math does not consider that the C400/C80 sensor is 24mp only in it‘s full sensor format of 3:2.

16x9 to 3:2 is a rounding error in megapixel and effective megapixel world… I certainly could be wrong, but the numbers are very close to coinciding
What…? Look up the specs if you think 16:9 to 3:2 is a „rounding error“. I‘m not that good at math so can‘t get you the exact numbers, but neither are you. If the C400 had a 16:9 sensor, it would need to be a 7k+ sensor to reach 24mp, which it is not. And you can see on first sight it‘s a 3:2 sensor. Look it up.

Edit: Here you go. from the C400 spec sheet… 6202x4300 total, 6008x3170 effective

Look bud I’m not here to argue about imaginary specs. Your screenshot clearly shows the raw MP of the C400 in 3:2 is 26.67 MP. And its a 24MP camera. All I'm saying is it’s not a huge leap to make when you consider rounding and effective megapixels. Do we even know for sure that the C50 is 32MP? Is that total or effective? We don't know and we are just here to make friends theorizing about it..

Contrary to what the website name may suggest, this forum isn’t always very welcoming to pie-in-the-sky daydreaming. Instead, it’s where you can run into the same people you’d normally hide from at parties. I had multiple great discussions about this camera today in person/on the phone with friends and colleagues and it has been a lot of fun to speculate about this camera - lots of us are excited for an FX3 competitor and not an FX30. I really don’t want it to be any R5 sensor either way, so I would be very happy if it delivers a more digestible resolution. Dream away, friend. It’s certainly OK in my book.

Im particularly excited about this camera because I almost got the R5C and made the jump to Canon when the Z9 came out.. then finally made the switch when the R5ii got here and love the camera, but it really doesn't like video in tropical destinations, and the fan/battery grip is just so large I wish I’d have gotten the C80 and had NDs and such. I was getting thermal warnings just carrying the r5ii in photo mode in Panama without the fan grip. If this camera has any better stills capability than the C80, Ill have a serious thought at switching.

There's good news for you. A C50 update in the "2 new lens" post implies that it will have a dedicated photo button.

The current article says the C50 will be based on R5 2 specs (45MP), but people are saying it will have 32MP sensor.

Canon Rumors posted a story, saying the camera will have 32MP but that was deleted.

What do you guys think we'll be getting? 45MP/8K or 32MP/6K or 7K?

Also, I noticed this on the new teaser video: The number "52" flashes quickly for some reason, could it be a reference to the R5 Mark 2?
