Need Lens for High school Band concerts under $1k

Hello everyone,
I am looking for a 70-200/300 with f4 or faster that can take stills and video with my Canon R6 of my son’s High School Band performances. My budgets is about $1k. Any suggestions? I want the rf 70-200 f4 but $1599 is too much.

Adapt an EF lens. B&H has the 70-200/4 non-IS for $600. Or consider a used lens.

If you aren't in a hurry, you might also consider refurbished when they are in stock. If you want IS, the 70-200 f/4L IS is a bit under $1K, lower when Canon discounts the refurbs. You can set a notification on Canon Price Watch.

I am in need now. I was researching the ef 70-300 ii since it is cheap and has IS. Also looking at the Tamron 70-210 f4. I really want the Rf 70-200 F4 but not something I can afford right now. I wish I could rent for the 2 months I need it then address next season.

If looking at the 70-300 range, personally I’d go for a good, used 70-300L.

A older 70-200 f/2.8 can likely be found in that range. They are excellent lenses. For use in low light, f/2.8 makes a huge difference. F/4 is marginal but sometimes works depending on shutter speed and lighting..
