With such photos, they'll become mine, too.I have a loaner of the RF 100-500L. My first sitting with it was yesterday. Nice lens.
And Red Bellied WPs are among my favorites.
And about the lens, I suppose you won't want to send it back

*sigh*No problem - here's a choice of two blurred backgrounds for you.
Really interesting comparison. Thanks, Alan. The RF 200-800mm is a real behemoth - compare it on the R5 with the RF 100-400mm on the R7. By chance I got two near identical shots of a Great Tit on my feeder with them - about 2000mp x 2000mpx crops below - with the R5 @ 742mm at the bottom. The R7/400mm isn't quite as good but it is nearly there. If I go out for a walk, I know which is the easier to carry and aim.
Nice. he is in pre-breeding colours. The guys were still sitting there when I returned later after sunrise

Slightly different exposures and the lenses do seem to have different transmission.Really interesting comparison. Thanks, Alan.
Do the different colours come from different amount of sunlight?
Or do they have to do something with the transmission of the two lenses?
Impressive! Esp. at 60m+Managed to catch a local Peregrine ...
And here I really couldn't decide which to prefer.
Almost identical, but a slightly different head position.
Do you prefer any of those two?
this one does not discriminate by speciesWe need a new post: BOTS (birds on tree scatology)

I prefer the second one because the first one those three ends of the tree are higher relative to the bird and get the extra contrast from the white. I think most people would be happy with either, they are lovely! And here I really couldn't decide which to prefer.

Bombing the invading American squirrels?
I presume 1400mm is the result of R5, 200-800 @ 700, and 2X extender?Managed to catch a local Peregrine at last after several visits. She is very difficult to see at 60+m away but I know where the nest is on the cliff. Taken at 1400mm with the 200-800mm on the R5. It needs at least 800mm to get any detail at this distance. I have never caught the detail around the eye so sharply in previous years.

...very nice image. I have lots of difficulty getting eye detail from birds with dark areas around the eye. Very nice. Thanks Click!
One more from today: bad weather I actually was more concentrated on the walk, occasionally looking for birds. This one (Red-vented bulbul) came when I was sitting on a bench for short rest and it came pretty close! It's posture is telling something about the weather (and I think my posture on the bench was very similar).
