2 lens characteristics you dont need to worry about on any canon lens
1 purple fringe and
2 distortion

lens correction in PS and lightroom fix these in seconds

I mostly agree with you about distortion.

But fringing is something I've definitely struggled to get rid of in high contrast shots from my 50 f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.8. What's your Lightroom technique to get rid of fringing?

I just select len correction and choose CA option, the only lens of mine that the purple fring doesnt go away with is my Fd600 and thats becasue there is no profile so i need to set some time aside to make one but all my other lenses its great even my sigma 85 which fringes a bit at 1.4 however i usually shoot at f2 with this lens because its super sharp there.

Here are some shots I took at a recent ANZAC Day parade. I haven't really used this lens much for street shots in the past, but it seems to do OK

I love my 85mm 1.2 but always thought the focus was too slow for sports. I took it to a high school basketball game last night and was very happy with the performance. I just love this lens. Here is a link if anyone is interested. Only the last 2 photos aren't taken with the 85mm
