Canon EOS R7 V & Canon EOS R7 Mark II Coming in 2025?

It would be cool if Canon could come out with just 3 affordable mini-cine lenses for beginners, couple with a Small Rig mini follow focus, as a starter kit. Get beginners to practice manual focus-pulling. Less intimidating than starting out with an expensive rig.

Canon is going full steam ahead with these entry video cameras. Nikon and Fuji is getting into the cinema space soon.

Is it V for Vlog? V for Virtual Reality? V for video? Since they aren’t going C for cinema…

The M50 sold very well as a web cam kit during the covid times. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see an R50 V marketed as that.

I still carry around my M5 pretty much everywhere. Fits in the pocket of my winter coat, and the old FD lenses look amazing on them are the right size for it. I think I’m one of the few that wishes the M line stayed alive with a few more offerings. I guess I’ll just have to settle for my R1…. Le sigh

Yes, please!

For me it also wouldn't be a problem, if they would build the batery grip into the body. Will this happen? I think not, but it would be great!

As for the rest:
30ish MP stacked sensor, 30fps, 14
bit RAW in ES, new AF, up to 4k@120fps in C-log 2/3, maybe RAW and Open Gate?, a battery grip, the 4-axis display and I would be very very happy!

I wonder how upmarket we’re talking about here. If it’s a few hundred bucks more ok, if it’s $2400-ish I hope the R10ii goes upmarket as well to accommodate those of us who don’t need all the “baby R1” features, if it indeed ends up as such.

I like my M50-cameras very much. Easy to use, good IQ, good FHD videos.
An M50 iii with 4k video including full sensor usage and current AF would be a burner with the glorious EF-M 32 1.4!

As to the V vs C nomenclature, I suspect the C will only be applied to cameras that support DCI aspect ratio, so if a camera only supports 16:9 video, it may well have a V rather than a C.
