Hi all.

Got to try a 400 2.8 (mk 1) yesterday with a 7D. Can anyone think of a reason why EXIF information (in Aperture) reports it to be using a 2x when there was not one connected to the camera !

The 7D has the latest 2.0.3. firmware installed and if I put the 70-200 ii on to it it does not claim there is a 2 x present.

Obviously the camera thinks it, but why ?!

Hmm. I just downloaded "iexifier" to look and it claims also the same data information. I can report it to Apple but... I exported out the .cr2 file to double check (export original, as I deleted the pictures off the card) but I understand that that would not change the original date.

Iexifer noticed the focal length of 400mm and 560mm (when I used the 1.4x extender iii) but in both cases the lens type is clearly stated as that stated at the start of the thread.

Would that be an Apple OSX issue then ? Would anyone with a Windows machine be able to verify the issue? I can send a link to Dropbox for the image.

Minor funny issue I suppose, but was more concerned in case there's a mismatch somewhere with the firmware.

Shall install. Never found the need to discover the software before (to be honest, normally software that the manufacturers' bundle, at least in the computer world, are a pile of poop (I think crapware is the name for the stuff you get when you buy a Dell or HP with windows?). Got to take my daughter out, but will leave installing.

Sorry for the delay. You learn something each day, which is something I like. I guess I must spend more time checking out the bundled software.

Now the DPP application notes Lens EF400mm f/2.8L IS USM (and when I use the extender +1.4x) rather than Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L + 2x which appears straight away (and without any extender).

I can report to Apple if they even pay attention!. Also passed to CPS Finland in case Canon has some "clear" channels to report it to Apple as well.

Thanks :)
