1D Mark IV Prices Dropping?

It looks like prices are starting to dip and sales of 1D Mark IVs are slowing in anticipation of a new body. It looks like Canon is blowing out 7D refurbs too.

Did you mean 1dX instead of 1d mark Iv?
You can find 1dx around $5,000 lately, albeit grey market.
That is a GREAT deal, but if you are patient, the next 1D may be something REALLY special!

I don't see any more or less 1D Mark IV's for sale or any lowering of the price recently. Where are you looking? It seems that their price is what it has been for quite a while, in the mid $2k's to lower $3k's depending on condition and number of actuations. I doubt that any news of an upcoming 7D replacement would have any impact whatsoever on their price. I would guess that most (I didn't say all) current owners of a 1D4 have at least tried the current 7D at some point and aren't especially interested in exploring that line any further. There are a lot more used 1DX's out there now and a lot more deals on gray market 1DX's, but as canonistic mentioned, the next 1DX may just be around the corner.

As you say, used 1D4 prices have been pretty stable at around $2700 - $3000 determined by condition and extras - I keep an eye on that and it's been stable since I picked one up several months ago.

Much more interesting (to me) is going to be the arrival of the 1DX successor and how that will impact the 1D4 price once you can get a clean used 1Dx for close to $4K.
