5D classic intro price? $3299.95?

Looking through old magazines the other day--November '05 Outdoor Photog--and see an ad for the 5D classic--$3299,95! Was that the price they originally went for? Make the III seem a bit more tolerable...

Yes, the 5DII was cheaper, but the classic not.

Yes, it was.
The 5D didn't hold its price like the 5DII, though.
In 2008, the 5D could be bought for $1700.
That's an almost 50% drop in three years.
Hopefully the 5DIII price will follow suit : 8).

That sounds about right. Considering that the only other full-frame body at the time was $8,000, everyone thought the 5D was a bargain at $3,300.

At the time of the 5D classic the market was completely different.

I don't think you should take that as an example of what will be happening with the 5D Mark III.

The 5D Mark III is going to retain that MSRP for quite some time and may drop 10-15% max over time.
