Figures those peaceable Canadians would get jump on the CPS notice on us!

I wonder what the reaction will be here to this service notice?

The illumination/exposure thing is not at all an issue for me other than I know it will affect my resale value of the body in several years.

Seriously, this light leak issue is the stupidest problem ever. I kind of wish Canon just said there is no issue and be done with it.

The light leak issue is very real but after using it you can easily get around it. I shot stars one evening and the metering flat out does not work if you run the light on the upper LCD. You don't get a constant reading and the meter just bounces around. All you have to do is turn the light off and but your options are limited at night when there is no light and it's pitch black. It's a issue that needs to get fixed but it is totally been blown out of proportion.

Overall the camera is awesome and the ISO expansion is amazing and it's great to be able to shoot at 6400 without any issues. It's a great step up from the 5D1 I was using and I'm 95% happy. It's not 100% because I do shoot 25% of my time at night but for the time being I can work around the light leak issue.

Maybe I'm just weird, but I never use the top LCD. Ever. I make/confirm adjustments with the rear display(or in the VF if applicable). You could remove the top LCD's from my MKII's and MKIII and I'd never miss them or possibly even notice.

You right but when your camera is 2 inches from the ground and pointing up it's impossible to use anything else. This issue really effects a small amount of people and you can easily work around it.
