5Dii refurbished- instock at Canon store for 1500!!!

Been checking for the 70-200 2.8 II for several days .... it just now popped up back in stock.

I bought it. With overnight shipping, out the door price was $1772.89 USD. I decided against free ground shipping, as I think the less the lens is handled by UPS the better.

There seems to be more in stock. Don't think I will find a better price than this, especially coming directly from Canon.

Wow. If i was in the US I'd be picking that up AND the 5DII gee prices are good... hope it filters down to where I am

1) Can you be alerted when they come back in stock...or are people just seeing this by chance?
2) How is everyone getting the coupon codes?

Been looking at the 5Dii for a few weeks and never see it in stock...and by the time i see a thread like this its gone. :

The coupon code expired yesterday. I put a few lenses and the 5DII on my watch list and never recieved an email when they came in stock. I just checked the site every few minutes and got lucky.

Yea i figured "right place right time" will have a little to do with it as well.

I understand the coupon code expired, but are people on a mailing list for these? Or where do they come from to begin with so that if something does become available I can possibly use one.

I just tried it on the 60D and it still works. Comes out to 714.20USD after tax & shipping. I'm in NY.

also the code NEW412 gives free shipping.

http://www.the-digital-picture.com/ is really good about posting the codes. I also sometimes get the codes from Canon directly. If you register through them, and opt to receive emails, you'll get the heads up.

Once the 20% discount was going on, I just checked the refurbished stock every so often (aka: a lot!), till the 5Dii was available. When something awesome is in stock, it usually sells out in minutes, so you have to pounce on it.

Months ago, I posted I was excited for the upcoming announcement of the 5D3 because I wanted the 5DII at a lower price point. People on this forum smited me and said I shouldn't expect to get it much cheaper than what it was currently at (around 2499.00).... well, a few months later I snagged one for a sweet 1K discount!

The 5dm2 wow, who would buy used if refurbs are so cheap. Its likely the shutters have been replaced on refurbs...

I bought my from Canon 24L II recently for $1399 when they go for $1749. $350 off isn't bad.
