I have my in camera sharpening set to off as well as in camera noise reduction, many shooters believe it best to have that control for after the fact edits. Has anyone taken the time to test the in camera sharpening settings and the diff levels? In quick reviewing this the in camera Canon software seems pretty darn good.

Also, what is in your mind the best subjects to use to test this out?

I plan to get into this more this week and wondered if anyone has taken that journey on yet.

my conclusion is shoot raw and it doesn't matter. :P

And if you shoot party-pictures for eample at a club.
Then there is no need for RAW since there only going on a website.

Is there then any reason to use the high/medium/low sharpening?

For small images, its not going to be noticible, but I'd still use RAW. The in camera NR for jpegs wipes out a lot of detail, trying to bring it back with sharpening is kinda futile.

However, different people have different tolerances for this type of thing, so I'd do what looks good to you and you will be happy.
