hey guys my name is adrian I'm new to this site hope i can put this topic in here if not please let me know so i know for next time.

i recently bought the 600d with 2 IS lens 18-55 and 55-250
great camera and lens can't complain so far just having one problem and i don't know why it is doing it.
when ever i go to take a photo at night time with the flash on, the flash filckers for a lil and then it says in the scope that it is busy and doesn't let me take any photos.

I'm hoping it is just something little and stupid on my behalf because I'm new to these sort of cameras so if you could help me out would be very grateful

thanks adrian

Mine does that, the initial ‘flicker’ is the camera using the flash to focus, if it does that a few times it will have to re-charge hence the delay. The viewfinder shows this re-charge progress. Solution is to get a flash gun unless there is another way to get focus I guess.

The 'little flicker' is the AF assist - a strobe burst to provide enough light for the AF to lock on. That should happen when you half-press the shutter, then pressing the rest of the way should take the picture with flash. Is at least one picture taken? The on-board flash isn't very powerful, so you can't take a burst of shots - after one shot you'll likely get Busy while the flash recycles. In very dark conditions the AF assist may exhaust the flash. As the previous poster stated, an external flash like a 430EX II won't have that problem, and also can be bounced meaning much softer (and thus more flattering) light for shots of people.
