Throw in the new features of the T5i on top of a 7D and you have a 6Ti that fits into the 699.99 or 799.99 price point. Lacks features offered by the 70D to keep it from cannibalizing it. What do you think? I build computers and AMD and Nvidia like to do this with their video cards. They just slap a new model on an old one with a few tweaks if that to up sales.

people will be more likely to buy a 7D with a NEW name than a 7D with the same name at a 999.99 price point because new is more exciting to the consumer than something thats 5 years old at a marked down value. Do any of you think that a person who buys a rebel line product has any clue about what you guys are talking about. they care about MP, fps, focus points and POSSIBLY low light performance, oh and most importantly price. the product can be handicapped purposely to save the 70D. The 7D's specs are a lot more exciting than just another incremental Rebel T#i series upgrade. They have got to give people a better reason to go canon and to compete against phones. If the 6Ti is an incremental upgrade to the 5Ti and is only 100.00 cheaper than the 7D then idk who is gonna buy it over a 7D unless its simply because its NEWER and they assume thats better(o look this has a touch screen wow). They could rebrand the 7D for a year or 2 and it would make more money being a NEW product than the same old product.

Wouldn't the trend suggest that the t6i will be the t5i, with a new name badge and a better kit lens? Maybe they'll up the AF system, but the biggest strength of that system is its customizability, and ability to select and use outer focus points with cross-type reliability. Most (yes, I'm generalizing, but that generalization is based on the target market for the rebel), most rebel users are less-advanced users, and using either full auto, or a program mode, which won't really take full advantage of the AF. FPS definitely won't exceed 70D, I guess no more than 6fps. And body/build will certainly stay rebel. The 7D was already recycled to make the 70D, and it's what, 5, pushing 6 years old? They've gotten plenty of mileage out of that R&D already....

I don't expect a t6i with dual processors either. There are a lot of things under the hood of a 7D, in fact, almost everything that is different from a T5i. The several years old 7D will have a new sensor, Canon has already stated that any 7D replacement is going to have new technology. I always take that with a grain of salt, and a big one. 1/2 stop gain in sensor performance is pretty large.

I still think its more likely that Canon takes the whole Rebel line Mirrorless at some point. Call it a 6Ti perhaps. But eh.... who knows. If I could get a camera with the same features as a T5i, and engineer it as a mirrorless (zero moving parts) camera that had OLED EFV technology and a sensor with faster readout speeds, that might be interesting.
