7D2 vs. 5D3 for indoor sports

I had a 7D and shot a lot of sports with it, when I bought the 5D mk III I never toughed the 7D again. So I traded the 7D in for a mk II. Now that I own both the camera's you mentioned I can say I use the 5D mk III the most: quality is so much better, and high iso capabilities as well. Also when extracting the details in raw you can get so much more out of a full frame image, especially with indoor sports. (I use the 70-200 2.8 II)

Yes the the 7D mk II has more fps but spraying images is not my shooting style (I shoot soccer, korfbal, windsurfing etc). The AF of the 7D mk II is faster but I prefer image quality over speed. I end up using the 7D mk II for windsurfing mostly, the 1.6 crop factor gives an advantage in getting better close ups and water is less critical in the details. Also with skin tones the 5D mk III is much better than the 7D mk II.

Recently I shot an indoor korfbal match with both camera's but comparing the end results, I ended up using the 5 Mk III images only. If they could equip the 5D mk III with the AF performance en AF zone selection lever of the the 7D mk II I would be happy, 1 Dx is out of reach. I'm a bit disappointed that I bought the 7D mk II along with the 5D mk III, I use it it less than I had expected. So in your case I would buy the 5D mk III without doubt. Just my two cents.
