If they give it 19 AF points I will pass. Makes more sense to go with a 45 point AF system like the 80D and the same type of metering system 7560-pixel RGB+IR metering sensormb66energy said:pedro said:If the tba 5DIV allegedly has a 30 MP sensor, how likely is it that the 6DII will get 24 MP?
Perhaps 24 MPix with DPAF? Should be possible to produce if a 5Ds has 50 MPix. So it's inline with a reduced PD AF with dedicated AF sensor: Perhaps 19 AF fields for moderate action and the DPAF for free compositions where the subject is sometimes near the border.
If the 5D iv hasn't DPAF and the 6D ii has it: The 6D would be more interesting for my needs. And if I look at my lenses which have a per pixel sharpness on the 5D classic I see a good chance that they profit from 24 MPix a lot. Higher resolutions wouldn't increase the gain to much.
Interesting times ... at least for those who are satisfied with Canon equipment in general.
I think it has to be 45 AF points. If the 5D MKIV retains 61 AF points and it has either the 150,000 RGB+IR metering system in the 5DS or the 200,000 RGB-IR system in the 1D X MKII its still far more superior. The 6D MKII should really be the full-frame version of the 80D.PureClassA said:24MP for the 6D2 now makes the most sense of any figure, provided the 30MP rumors about the 5D4 are correct.
Canon has a pretty well established history of finding homes for the same MP count in both Crop and FF. That 18MP sensor was on everything for quite a while.
Before the rumors, I was pretty convinced the new 24MP sensor we got with the T6 and 80D would find a FF home in the 5D4 (honestly, I would have preferred this over the 30MP, but that's another thread).
That means it's going to almost certainly find it's home someplace in the FF lineup and that now seems to be the 6D2, because frankly there isn't any other option left.
It's a perfect resolution for this body, and they will sell the mess out of this camera if they also upgrade the AF system to something closer to the 45 point range the 80D has.
That said, they opt to go lower on the AF points to keep its distance from the 5D4, as I suspect a lot of pros would rather the lower MP count provided it had ample AF. Canon may try to choke it back to 21-25, which would keep more wedding shooters looking at the 5D4 body instead.

So 19 AF points in the 6D MKII would certainly not cut it, period.
