Anything Shot with a 7D MII

This Red-breasted Sapsucker really tested my patience, going low in the crotch of this apple tree, then around back, then look like he was making the 'rounds' again only to stop. Pleased to be able to capture what I did on an already overcast day with this bird in the shadow of the branches and trunk. Focus was quick and pretty accurate for this difficult situation- not sure my 7d would have grabbed him.

Lovely! Did you use flash or was it natural lighting?

Natural lighting - shot out of my kitchen window -handheld right after my wife loaded the birdfeeder :)
Was having my coffee when the birds started coming - so I can't take credit for being a 'birder', though I knew the light would only last an hour or so, so I did plan the shot / background a little....

Mountain Chickadee

These little birds love peanut butter so I've been luring them in so I can test the 7D MK II.
ISO 2000, using auto-ISO, 1/1000 @ f/8 with 100-400 @ 400mm nominal

Haven't posted in a while (months, I think). Finally got some time to take my 7D2 out for a ride. Wall decorations can get boring after a while ;) Below is one of the very first shots I took. Was anxious to see how it pairs with the Tamron -- so far so good. Hope to have time before Christmas to do some BIF (have been using the 6D).

Lovely pictures here!

Adding one of mine. I don't know the name of the flower but the creeper is growing wild in our garden and we love it.

7D2, 100L macro, 1/200, f/4.5, ISO 400, popup flash. You can see the EXIF... Wow, uploading here takes the EXIF off! Beep!

Shot with 7D MK II and 135/2 lens. Both ISO 4000, shot in RAW. I find that 1DX noise is about a stop better than 7DII, which is understandable. When I bought 7DII, I was prepared for even worse result, so I'm happy with that.

I have had mine for a couple of weeks, but I have not had the time to play around with it much. But last weekend I took it for a walk in the woods and managed to shoot some tits (sounds odd to say that :)).

This one was with the 600mm f4L IS II, with the 1.4xIII extender, which makes it a FF equivalent of 1.344mm(!). Awesome reach! I have not done any AFMA, but it seems to be pretty good out of the box. The AF system is very good, no matter what you put it next to.

My biggest concern has been the ISO performance. I have seen Scott Kelby show off ISO16000, but I do not believe that is a realistic level for anything. I would be happy though if I could use 3200, so this is a 3200 example. Considering my expectations, this is good enough for me. I´m sure that someone with better post processing skills than me, easily could push it 2 stops further.

1/640s, f6.3, ISO3200

I'm finding similar great action with high ISO. Recently shot an indoor soccer game with poor defective lighting. Used ISO 12500. Images cleaned up nicely in CS5 after converting to DNG files. Not as good as 1dx but I concur about the 1/2 stop less. Hard to quantify though. The noise cleans up really well compared to its predeccesor.

I think that's pretty impressive at that ISO.
