B&H is selling the 5D II at $1979. What does this indicate?

Both B&H and Amazon are selling the 5D mark II at $1979. Does this mean the new entry level FF body is coming soon?

Yup! But really, the price of a NEW 5DMK2 was cheaper than this months ago. Then it went up for a little while. Now coming back down...

It's a great camera regardless and a bargain at this price.

It means people start buying 5D III. They know 5D III price will not come down anytime soon and couldn't wait any longer ;D

Law of supply and demand. The economy is poor, sales are slow, price drops.
This happened last December as Canon sold down inventory at the end of FY2011 in a attempt to increase cash flow and sales figures.

The 5d II is a great camera and I can say I do not have any focusing complaints. The number of keepers I get are extraordinary and I shoot a variety of subjects. The IQ is also amazing.

Or conversely, that some people know how to use their camera. The 5D MK II is one of the most accurately focusing cameras Canon has made, at least for the center point. I have had two of them, and both have very accurate autofocus.

If you can still buy them new now, and you really want one, now is the time to buy. I wouldn't want to be buying used in 2 years. Get one new now for a really low price.

I bought the 5DII after the price dropped and the 5DIII was out... It works like an auto focus camera should- I put the boxy thingy in my viewfinder on my subject, push the button, and get a magical in-focus photo! OMG! And I didn't even "micro adjust" my lens with a fancy test thing. This photography is easy. I think I'm gonna go pro.
