Hi guys,

Just wondering before I buy the 70-200 first, I wanted to know for both lenses will I still be able to use the hoods with these filter types? mostly the 70-200 since its first priority.

'B+W 77mm XS-PRO UV MRC-NANO (010M) & B+W 77mm XS-PRO KSM C POL (CPL) MRC NANO'

Thanks,
Kind regards
:)

Those are fine for the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II, yes. No problems with the hood.

However, the 24-70 f/2.8L II uses 82mm filters, so to use 77mm filters on that lens means you need a step-down ring, and you'll get significant mechanical vignetting.

You could get 82mm filters and a step-up ring to use them on the 70-200 II. That would probably preclude using the hood (not positive, but I have a 77→82mm step up ring and I can try it on my 70-200 II later today).

Great thanks for the super quick reply! was hoping to get your response haha my luck.

I wouldn't mind seeing the 77→82mm step up ring shots, but when I eventually get the next lens I'll just buy the 82mm xs-pro nano filters for it, hoping the hood will also work fine with that lens?

As I suspected, you cannot mount the hood of the 70-200 II with an 82mm filter on the lens (and the hood is too deep to conveniently mount the fliter with the hood in place).

Like I stated, that's usually the case. But not always - for example, with a 77mm filter mounted via a 72→77mm step up ring on the 85L II, the hood can still be mounted.
