Hi all,

I am in need of some educated advice. I am looking to move out of the rebel lineup. I have a T3 currently. I use an 85mm f/1.8 on it primarily.

I primarily enjoy portraits. What do you view as being my best option?

I can struggled with AF in lowlight with the T3 so I am looking for an upgrade when it comes to autofocus. Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks.

My budget is flexible. This does seem what it comes down to 6D vs. 5DIII. I'm not sure I can justify the 5D. 90% of my shots are still.

The 5DIII's AF system also helps for stills, especially when the subject is off-center. Its many f/2.8 points with spot focusing helps with using large aperture lenses. I used to crop a lot of 5DII images because I was only able to get good results with the center point consistently, so the subject was centered and the image was "reframed" in post. Now I just select the AF point, and it minimizes cropping.

The T3 is fine unless you're a pixel peeper. Then the only option is full frame and that's only a budget question.
I might consider the 50mm f1.4 on your current body. The crop factor will make it a 75mm lens - generally
thought of as a maximum focal length for portraits. This faster lens will "upgrade" to full frame should you decide to make the move later.
Keep saving your money - none of this junk is going to get cheaper!
