Butterflies, Moths and Assorted Insects...

I don't generally photograph moths and butterflies, but I have more time to try these days.

This Pale Beauty Moth sat on a leaf for quite some time, allowing the breeze (and my wavering stance) to attempt a portrait.
It has an interesting radiance in full sun, but I did not care for those photos overall look.

Wow, was it difficult to get enough depth of field without the background becoming distracting. I did not succeed.

?! If you mean the leaf getting to much in focus - actually I think it makes the image even more interesting to me (but it's just me!).

Thanks, ISv and Click!
Oh, I like the leaf in focus too.
I was trying to get the left wing(or right wing as the moth flies) in focus also, but this was the only angle where the framing was best.

...sort of a do-over of this (but today's post is with still-new-to-me gear):

...with R5II and 200-800 @ about 600; ISO 250; 1/750s; f/9.5

...lots of antenna detail on the port side. Hair?

I should've shot at much higher ISO to freeze the wing movement.
