That's going to be a tough one to answer. Most of us have only had the 1DX since summer, and I'd really hope that NO camera would need repaired by now.

That will tell you how well the camera last under regular use.
If the 1Dx is anything like the other 1D series bodies, you can hammer nails with it (though I would not recommend using the camera as a $7000 hammer) without damaging.

My 1DX has worked flawlessly (I have had in for the lubrication job, took 15min and was done while I waited), I do however need to send it in for service now, I had it cleaned at a locel photo shop yesterday, and somehow the sensor got scrathed (the repair will cost about 2000US$ i was told)....

I took a picture while I was at the store (before handing it over), and that picture shows no scracth (they have agreed that it´s their fault, and it will be serviced without any cost for me), but yes normally it would my word against word.

Repair frequency will depend on damage frequency. Damage for example can be caused by negligence, hazardous working conditions, by accident or perhaps by some inherent design flaw. All of these categories (and corresponding statistics) have different implications when considering reliability and what expectations one has of equipment.

I have had my 1DX since Nov 2012. Other than having it serviced for the technical advisory (recall) for lubrication check, and a clean and check last Feb, it has served me well. I have experienced a couple of things with it that never occurred with any of my other bodies. I was shooting the mission in San Diego, when I had a blank image occur in the middle of a series of shots I was taking of some of the art work there. I took the shot and looked at the LCD, only to see an all black image? This has only happened once with my 1DX, but still puzzles me! The blank image contained all of the right exposure information, just like it would with a properly exposed image, but no image was recorded? I checked the System Status Display and found an error 80 code. However, upon checking the event time, it was for several days prior to the blank image and when I checked the time code against the shots I had taken, there was no problem with the images shot before the time code or after it? The only other issue I have had, is that both the original battery (LP-E4N) and one of the extra batteries I have for my 1D4 (LP-E4) display the "Recalibration is Needed" after about six rechargings? Performing a recalibration did not clear this issue with either battery? The original battery for the 1D4 has been recharged at least a dozen time without this ever happening? So, other than those two issues, it has been a complete delight using the 1DX!
UPDATE: Just tried a method of recalibration suggested by a friend. Charging the batterys fully before attempting the recalibration, did the trick! Although it takes about 14-hours to complete this process, it cleared the "Recalibration" message from the battery status display.

I'm not a big Arthur Morris fan. But i do watch the sales and blogs on his site. He bought two when they came out and sold both because of the mirror problem. Both stopped AF. I think he bought two more for a new trip he had planned.
They are probably fixed by now. I think I read both had 22-25K on the body's when they failed.

I have about 165k exposures across 4 1DX bodies... I had three of them (one is much newer) in for the last service advisory because they were all early X bodies (https://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/slr_cameras/eos_1d_x?pageKeyCode=prdAdvDetail&docId=0901e024809120b7)
... but otherwise have had zero issues with any of them... my first two were July 2012 then January 2013 and now March 2014.
