Canon 80D Review at The Digital Picture

So, I currently have a T2i/550D, and just for curiosities sake decided to look at the noise sample images back to back vs my cam. http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Camera-Noise.aspx?Camera=1044&Test=0&ISO=1600&CameraComp=688&TestComp=0&ISOComp=1600
I am really surprised that they are so similar. I mean, in most of the samples, besides the higher resolution, it's hard to really tell which is which. The T2i has one of the very earliest 18mp sensors, I would have thought in the several years since there would be a more notable difference!

I've had a T2i, and currently have T5i and 70D.

I can say that NOISE QUANTITY is a little better in T5i and 70D in ISO1600, but the quality of noise is much better. Moreover, the retention of color and contrast in ISO1600 is much better in current models.

The fact 80D have much higher resolution and maintains similar noise means you can apply noise reduction with better efficiency. In fact, a fair comparison should be made with the same display size in both cameras, and this will best hide the noise in the camera that has more megapixel.

Me too. I find his reviews are very detailed and extremely helpful in making purchasing decisions.
