Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM

Re: Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM

This lens isn't what you want to shoot the Milky Way with, but if it's all you have with you, at least you can come home with something. I have to say, I'll never "love" this lens, but I sure do end up using it a lot. "Going on a trip, taking the 5D3 and...the 24-105...". (but I was really wishing I had my Rokinon 35 with me for this shot, wasn't expecting the opportunity to shoot stars so didn't pack it)

Re: Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM

Went to the hot rod show today and used the 24-105 as a walking around lens. I added a lot vignetting in Lightroom. :)

This was at F/4.5, 55mm, ISO 100, 1/320 using the 5D3.

I love my 24-105 too.
It's on the camera (5D3) 90% of the time and probably the most versatile lens I own.
I've done entire weddings using just this lens both for stills and movies and I'm still inlove with the colour and contrast it gives.

Here's some shots of the Sydney Harbour Bridge during Sydney's Vivid Festival to show how good it is even at night.
Beautiful Benny!

one of my favorite lenses.

You CANNOT do this! I don't care about the 2500 ISO! I just drooled a ton! You owe me!

:)

Lovely picture.
Thanks!
Bouchon in Napa, one of the best breakfasts I ever had, along with several glasses of the house red. Every time I look at this picture I want to go back.

Re: Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM

I have been considering one of these to replace my Tamron 28-75 as well. Should I pickup a new copy or go for one of the good looking used ones on ebay? I would use it on a 5 and 7D.
I have the Canon 24-135 is usm that actually takes beautiful shots on my 5D but not as much the 7D...makes no sense to me.
Or should I just stick the with 24-135 since I already have it.

Thanks.

Personally I'd go for the 24-105mm L over the Tamron in a minute. I've shot that lens and it never compared to my 24-105mm. Have you tried AMFA on your 7D with your 24-135MM? May make a difference.

I'd go for the 24-105mm over the 24-135mm too. I'd sell them both and pick up a new or almost new 24-105mm. Personally I like new. Sometimes there are some excellent almost new copies out there. Always ask the seller for the date code though and only go for the newest. When buying used, I always buy as new as I can get...

Good luck! :)
Oh btw, I've used the 24-105mm L on both my 5d Mk III and my 7d. It performed flawlessly on both...

Re: Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM

Thanks for the info Ken. I sometimes have a problem parting with items....like a mini pack rat lol.
Its odd my luck with lenses, my tamron is tack sharp and takes great pix on my 7d but on my 5d its a little off. On the 5d the pix froom the canon 28-135 are great but on my 7d a little off. Maybe it needs calibrated to my 7d but I havent gotten around to doing it. My tripod is broken atm and I dont think you can do that w/o one.
I do have the tamron 17-50 which is very nice on my 7d but wont work on the 5d as its for cropped cameras.

Ok I just picked one up. You guys sold me - along with a 100mm macro. Nice shots everyone.
For me the 24-105mm love snuck up on me! Hopefully you'll feel the love with your first set of images! Congratulations on the purchase of both! I'm sure you'll be quite pleased! :D
