Nice shots Dylan
Congrats on your 1st big white lens
This lens is on my wish list I just have to be patient and collect money to my piggybank :) ;)

Thanks DARSON,
It took me 1.5yrs in saving to get this baby. It worth every penny.

I know some CR members recently purchased this lens. We going to see more great photos from them. Stay tune ;)

You have a lot of Super FUN, and plus get the great Photos too.
Congratulation.

Thanks surapon,

Yes...I'm having a lot of fun last couple days.

Will use this lens again tonight, as my daughter performs her last time in junior ballet. She will be moving to next class, bigger kids.

Hi Dylan, well done, have a look at getting yourself a drop in Circular Polariser for the 300, it's not too expensive and is a huge benefit when shooting bright sunlight & especially green foliage.

I'm surprised, considering just how good this Lens really is, that the Thread for the Lens doesn't have more Posters showing Images from this possibly best ever Lens made by Canon.

Have Fun, look forward to seeing more from your current Lens Passion.

Duba Plains Lions, these amazing Animals are some of the only Lions that do all their hunting during the day, mostly using the water as a method of stalking & hunting their prey, and almost exclusively Hunt Buffalo. I've spent a week twice now at Duba, the 2nd fortunate to see these Lions make 2 Kills, unfortunate for the Buffalo of course.

Hi Dylan, finally found something you asked me about re the 300 + 1.4x

The attached isn't possibly the best example, but it was shot after actual Sunset, so still some light, but quite dim.

5DMK III 300f/2.8 L II + 1.4x V III, Shot at 420mm f/4.5 & 1/640th ISO1250

Majority of Grain was introduced in Post, I was wanting to give the Image that Old World Look, not always successfully I should add.

Just now looking at the trip to Bosque del Apache with the rented 300 . Just ran this one to see the clarity handheld. This "cat" was not having a good day but the Blue Heron seemed to be.

1/640, f/10, iso 400 hand held.

And, here's one with the 300 and a 2xiii. This is one of my first ever BIF attempts. Again, hand-held, 1/4000 f/8 iso 1600. My lessons from this are:
1) An amazing lens
2) Can hand-hold without too much trouble
3) I gotta work on my technique for BIF!

BTW, these are Sand Cranes.

Any suggestion on the drop in Circular Polariser?

As always, I enjoy your wildlife photos, especially photos on the 1D X thread.

Maybe one day I will join that group ::) For now, I need to save $$$ for 600mmish ;D

I know at least two CR members just bought this lens. As I saw their other photos in the past, you will see their works with this lens soon.

Not a bad lens to capture this type of photo - TED, the train captain at Santa Ana Zoo
